emotions. for a more humane education.

  • #EducarAdolescentesDeHoy. Proposals with an emotional component to become true influencers. Eva Bach, Gemma Ventura. How can we educate teenagers today so that they are more nice than baffling? How to see them with kinder eyes? How to communicate with them to touch their hearts? What necessary changes must we make to open up to new ways of understanding life, relations, education, love, sex, happiness, new technologies … and many other issues that disrupt our outlook and throw us off? Can we create kinder links that help us to become real influencers?
  • Stories and vulnerability in the classroom. Jordi Amenós. This lecture addresses the importance of dignifying vulnerability, both in students and teachers inside the classroom. And I will do this using the  knowledge provided by myths and stories. I will promote the reflection on such things as solitude, dependence on screens and always being in a hurry, all of which are so common in our world today.
  • Growing up being brave. Cristina Gutiérrez Lestón. Fear has grown tremendously in our children and teenagers at the same time as courage, one of the most valuable attitudes in the history of humanity, has decreased at the same rate. What has caused this? Why is being brave important? Are children educated in the values of strength and courage today? What are the consequences of all this? Using the real life reflections of children and teenagers we will try to understand why overprotection destroys courage, and the tricks that teachers and educators can use to help our students become courageous.
  • The Neuroscience of emotions: why do we think they are so importants in education? David Bueno. We learn what makes us emotional. In other words, if something really moves us we integrate it more efficiently. Why does this happen? How do emotions affect the brain? In the context of education, are all emotions equivalent? We will discuss how the way we relate to our students and how we transmit knowledge is decisive in how they perceive themselves and their environment, and thus how they will establish relationships in the future. This is the cornerstone of education.
  • Evidence, myths and beliefs in education. Arantxa Ribot. It is difficult to imagine a medical professional making decisions without taking into consideration the results of medical research studies. Everything carried out in the field of health care is based on evidence, since this helps decide the most adequate treatment, the one with more possibilities of being successful. In general, in the field of education we are not used to basing our decisions on research studies. The objective of this lecture is to reflect on the need to base our educational decisions on evidence, show the tools to consult the latest research and delve deeper into the results obtained in the use of technology in education.
  • Communicate well to educate better. Javier Cebreiros. People have different ways of communicating, and this lecture focuses on the importance of training two skills: observation and good personal communication. Focusing on the importance and influence of emotions on how we communicate, we will share practical resources to face our daily personal and professional conversations in a more gratifying and satisfying way.
